Dr Paola Ovando Pol
Environmental economist
Dr. Ovando’s research expertise includes the economic valuation of ecosystem services and natural capital, and their integration into ecosystem accounting and decision making frameworks, and the development of integrated economic and environmental models to better understand land use and management decisions and their environmental and socioeconomic consequences. She is a Macaulay Development Trust Fellow in Natural Capital, member of the Steering Committee of the Natural Capital Coalition TEEB-Agrifood project, the Irish Natural Capital Accounting for Sustainable Environments project, and part of the Sustainable Land Use group of the Scottish Forum on Natural Capital. She has fulfilled a range of roles as PhD examiner, invited speaker, and as a reviewer for multiple journals, and co-authored more than 50 publications in scientific journals, books, and reports .
